Fire Services Department Organisation

The department has an establishment of 7,639 uniformed personnel and 741 civilian members. It is divided into three operational Fire Commands, a Fire Safety Command, a Licencing and Control Command, an Ambulance Command, a Headquarters Command and an Administration Division. Commanding the 8,380-strong Services is the Director of Fire Services who is assisted by a Deputy Director.

Each of the three operational Fire Commands - Hong Kong(H), Kowloon(K) and the New Territories(NT) - is headed by a Chief Fire Officer. (H) Command and (K) Command are each organized into four geographical divisions, each containing four to seven fire stations. (NT) Command is organized into five geographical divisions.

The Fire Safety Command(FSC), commanded by a Chief Fire Officer, comprises five functional divisions - Building Improvement & Support , Commercial Buildings & Premises, Community Relations, Fire Service Installations and Ventilation.

The Licensing & Control Command(LCC), led by a Chief Fire Officer, comprising four functional divisions - Policy & Support, New Projects, Special Projects and three regional fire protection Offices.

The Ambulance Command(Amb), supervised by a Chief Ambulance Officer, has three operational regions (Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories) and the Command Headquarters. Each operational region is split into two geographical divisions.

The Headquarters Command(FSHQ), headed by a Chief Fire Officer, comprises a number of central units, namely the Airport Fire Contingent and the Fire Services Training School.

The Departmenal Secretarial, staffed by civilians, is headed by the Departmental Secretary who is a Principal Executive Officer.
